TALK: The History of Flower Paintings with Albert Hill
Overview
Join Albert Hill as he tells the story of a thousand years of flower paintings.
Over the centuries, artists have used floral pieces to tackle issues of life, love, death, wealth and gender. The talk focusses on ten pivotal paintings from the genre’s rich history, delving beneath the seemingly gentile subject matter of flowers to uncover the turbulent undercurrents that inform the works.
The evening begins at 18:30 with a drinks reception. The talk starts at 19:00 and concludes at 20:00.
Events at the Atmosfloric Emporium take place in the Gallery, a dedicated space for ideas and discovery. Please note, the bathroom is located on a lower level and accessible only by stairs, which may limit access for some attendees.
Albert Hill is an art historian and entrepreneur. Alongside founding the noted estate agencies The Modern House and Inigo, Albert collects flower paintings that he sells through his online gallery Flowers, Mountains Etc.
