Overview

Led by paper artists Charlotte Hepworth, this workshop is an opportunity to learn the traditional art of creating handmade paper flowers, using techniques developed through more than 35 years of experience in paper flower making.

Participants will have the opportunity to create one of the following:

  • Icelandic poppies
  • Small pots of snowdrops
  • A small bunch of mistletoe

Participants will work with paper to create and shape the individual components of their chosen flower, learning how to assemble the pieces using wire. The works will then be painted and finished by dipping into wax.

The finished flowers can then be arranged or potted, creating a beautiful piece for participants to take home and enjoy.

This workshop features a practical component; we encourage guests to dress in clothing suitable for creative work.

Events at the Atmosfloric Emporium take place in the Gallery, a dedicated space for ideas and discovery. Please note, the bathroom is located on a lower level and accessible only by stairs, which may limit access for some attendees.

Charlotte Hepworth has been crafting waxed paper flowers for over 30 years, a unique art form rooted in the legacy of the renowned Constance Spry artificial flower studio in London. Trained in art and inspired after meeting a student of Spry’s studio, Charlotte began her career making paper flowers for prestigious clients, including the National Trust and Chatsworth House.

Her work has been featured at numerous fairs across the UK, such as House & Garden and Homes & Gardens in London. Charlotte’s intricate, hand-crafted flowers have also been commissioned by historic venues like Fairfax House in York and Attingham Park in Shropshire. She regularly collaborates with interior designers, transforming crepe paper into delicate flowers that are individually cut, assembled, painted with artist oils, and finished with a coat of wax. Passionate about capturing the natural beauty of flowers, Charlotte’s work elevates this medium into a timeless form of art.
